As a young man in the late 1960's and 1970's moving from Philadlephia to Maryland I grew up a very aggessive young black man, no father or brothers, sisters but living with a aunt family member. Growning up in the city around gangs not being from one and alway doing my best to stay out of them, playing football, basketball, and other sports gave me my outlet. When I turn fifteen my aunt really did not know how to deal with me so she sent me to my grand father who live in Maryland on the out shirts in a place call Queenstown MD. A little hick town were all the Black people seem to know each other very well, Not knowing how to relate to them I felt like the outsider, One day I when to a store they call across the track. Me being stupid to this I did not know that across the track meant being in the white area were black were not treated nice at all. While going to this store I was saw three white boys just hanging around the edge of the store now again growing up Philadeplhia I learn to fight very well sometime I had to fight more then one person at a time which loosing was not a option if I did I would have had to join a gang( I was not about to loose to these punks) One of the white boys as me for some money I told him I did not have any I was going to the store for the family. One of the other white boys said Nigger I did not ask you weather or not who was going to the store for. At that point i ssay to him I don't know how the rest of the people deal with punks like you but you happen to get the wrong one. they seem shock when I talk back to them. Dealing with the gangs in Philadelphia I kept my eye on the with all the mouth if anything would kick off he would be the one I would go after first. Well the fight did not jump off I was kind of disapointed, I had not had a good rumble since I move there. I learn how people there felt. When I got back home to the house I told my grand father what had happen he told me I was lucky that they did not hurt me for talking back to them, when I heard that it really piss me off to the point I want to go back and kick some butt. My grand father told me that white people on the other side of the track did not like black people and would jump the young one if they go to the store even the older one to and the cops woud not do anything. well to make a long story short. Yes, I got into a fight there and ever since tat point black were able to go to the store with out the young white boys messing with them, I don't know how it turn out after I came back to philadelphia ,but I thought about it later and I just felt that if my life was take I would not go down with out a fight. My life has been richer by education and growth in living well now nearing my mid 50's I look back on my life and wonder how would I have handle it if I grew up with the fear of white people. I don't think I could handle the thought. Good luck on your Phd.hope this help you.

I'm in an odd position...growing up in North Philly I didn't have much contact with whites other than the store owner, teacher at school or cops. So there wasn't much racism to experience. The "old heads" had a lot of hatred for Frank Rizzo, so you knew it was there...Fortunately a Temple after school program got to me before the rappers did :). REALLY did. From 16-18, I didn't spend a lot of time on the streets. After school it was temple, and during the summers it was Temple dorms. After HS I bounced around Temple and Community College for a couple years. I realized then that there was a world outside of the ghetto, and there was a lot more to life than the next rap cd.

So I never developed the ghetto slang (What up dog), cornrows, uncivil behaviors and voilent tendencies. As a result, I'm a lot more acceptable to whites. NOT that I strive for that :)! But thats just how it is. I get more of the FEAR kind of racism. The white person doesn't know you, you're both walking down the street, and they think they're about to be robbed :). Or you walk into a bank? To me its understandable because we're so VOILENT and criminal! But the fear happens so much that I've developed tactics to defuse the tention :)! If I walk into a bank, I'll take my bank card out at the withdrawal slip desk. Since they're staring right at me, they'll see the bank card, and MAYBE they'll know that I have an account! If I'm wearing a hoodie or knit cap I'll remove it in certain places. Sometimes I'll act like I'm fumbling through my wallet and pull some cash out :)! Living in the far northeast, once in a blue moon a couple kids, young PUNKS, will ride by in a car and yell something. Middle finger or stick my hand in my pocket and keep going. After the radio dj was fired for playing "Swoogies" song? I'm going into a Wawa, and another group of young punks start talking among themselves about the dj that got fired, so I'd hear it? So I get that once in a while from young punks with nothing to do, but other than that, its been minimal.

The reason George Bush was in Iraq was that the US and the Puppet government came up with a sort of Cease Fire and an End to the War in Iraq. The reporters were there to witness the end of the US occupation to be finalized in 3 more years.

However, the puppet government, all ex patriots that lived here in the US and were trained by the US to take power in Iraq. These traitors gave the US rights that remain secret.

The trouble with our shoe thrower is that while Crimes against Humanity and the murder of countless people including Sadaam Hussein go unpunished, the shoes might cost the man half his life if not his life.In Iraq today, more people are executed by this government and more people are in prison being tortured than were in Prison or executed when Sadaam was President. They replaced Sadaam with a worse dictator...but they call the new dictator a democrat? It is all a joke. The way they beat him and threw him in jail was an omen of what is to come.

The reporter and the people of Iraq were just expressing that sentiment and irony. The US wants them all to feel better about their newly installed dictator after they killed the old one. Throwing a shoe at this dog was an expression of the senselessness of it all.

The US now plans to move into Afghanistan at full speed ahead but nobody will support her. Pakistan no longer provides the US a safe Haven and Pakistan has destroyed million of dollars of weapons and supplies. The Soviets offered a route to the US if she would stop installing missiles in Poland and Czeckoslovakia but the US told Russia to drop dead. Now she is looking to India and Georgia for a safe route for her supply lines but in Mumbai, the Mujahadeen attacked her and now India is somewhat out of the picture.

It looks to me like the US and India and England are Public Enemies and their troubles and ours are just starting. Any second now, it will go Nuclear.

I agree with Smiles, he did look a little annoyed to me and then attempted to do damage control. Why do the wives need to be there anyway? What do they have to do with anything?

Did he pay to play? Don't know and don't care, really. I don't trust most politicans and many of them will sell their first born, and out of wedlock children to acquire political power and status.

Give Jessie Jackson, Jr. his good name back. I don't think he deliberately meant ill or participated in dirty politics. Regarding Mrs. Jackson. I didn't see a negative look to his wife. He was carefully choosing his words and not throwing her a "shut up" motion.

I think Junior is innocent but unfortunately he stepped in it when he met with Blagoman. Stepped in it knee deep. The fallout is really about people's disdain for his father. I feel for him. I truly believe he is a victim in this and I hope he can recover.

He may have to wait out 2010. He is young enough to wait awhile longer. If he runs & loses in 2010 there may not be any future for him in politics.

Give Jesse Jackson Jr. his name back.

(and leave Sandy Jackson alone. some people can't stand Black women standing by their men. they are more comfortable with the stereotype. sheesh).

Why didn't that size 10 shoe hit the big head of Bush???
Why ?! Man. Oh well.

I laughed for quite a while. It is too funny even for words.
It couldn't have happened to a nicer guy and maybe when he stops laughing & joking about it he will think of all the implications ie. symbolic, emotional, psychological, economical and strategic, of the gesture.

Soul searching is in order. Mybe at some point in the future he will look at the man in the mirror for real. Repent.

This interview was bleeping funny..Lol..I'm glad he has his sense of humor back & that he is not bitter. I really am. Some other people need to take a page out of the McCain book & bleeping move on.

I like McC. I was feeling rather sorry for him the last few weeks of the campaign because of that idiot he had tied around his neck. Don't get me wrong. I'm glad he didn't win but now I can like him again.

And I can see by some recent news events that the bleeping maverick is indeed back!
