I am helping a friend with her dissertation on “Coping with Racism.” We are attempting to accumulate information on the effects of racism and the common coping mechinisms that people use. If you are over the age of 18 and of African Descent (African American, Caribbean, Black etc) please take 20-30 minutes to complete this multiple choice questionnaire. I keep wonedring if the Republican Party can sink any lower? Rush Limbaugh is clearly a racist but to listen to people defend him is nauseating. I don’t want to paint with a broad brush but this mindset is a major contributing force to the division that we have in this country. Limbaugh first aired the song as an attempt at humor directed at Rev Sharpton. To me the song is offensive on so many levels but you tell me, are you offended or is this legit satire?

This is a very interesting clip that I would imagine will generate significant controversy. The filmmaker spent a great deal of time researching the relationships and methods of approach that exist in African American communities. Is it over stated? Stereotypical? Another attempt to divide? Or is it a realistic view of what goes on in many circumstances. I am curious to hear the responses from with Wake Up With Bill community.

What do you get the person who has everything—except adequate health insurance? If you live in Indiana, consider this offering from the state’s Planned Parenthood affiliate: gift certificates in $25 increments.

The vouchers, available online and at 35 clinics statewide, can be used for health services or contraceptives. And yes, they can be used to pay for abortions.

Betty Cockrum, president and CEO of Planned Parenthood of Indiana, characterizes the response to the gift certificates as “pretty robust, and generally very favorable.”

She estimates that “about a dozen” certificates have sold since they became available Nov. 25. Planned Parenthood of Illinois plans to sell similar gift certificates starting Monday.

PPIN’s move has enraged various anti-abortion organizations—Indiana Right to Life and the Indiana Family Institute among them. Jim Sedlak, vice president of the American Life League and executive director of Stop Planned Parenthood, an anti-abortion group based in Stafford, Va., condemns the certificates as a continuation of Planned Parenthood’s “annual attacks on the Christian community at Christmastime.”

“We are talking about what can be done,” Sedlak said. “Look, they [Planned Parenthood] could easily have said, ‘these certificates are not to be used for abortions.’ But they intentionally chose not to do that.”

Those who criticize the gift certificates, said PPIN’s Cockrum, are missing the forest for the trees. “We see 92,000 patients each year at Planned Parenthood of Indiana, and 5,000 of them opt for abortions,” Cockrum said. “Ninety-five percent of what we do is provide basic health care.”

The media continues to ignore the fact that the Blagojevich case is still being investigated and looks for P.E. Obama to make a substantive statement. Now Obama is being criticized for the following response to the Chicago Tribune. I even read a post that said “get use to it, this is the type of evasion you can expect from this idiot.” After reviewing the video, is his response really that offensive? Evasive?

President Bush admits no Al Qaeda connection pre 9-11. Huh??

In an interview done in Iraq President George W Bush was asked about his legacy. When presented with the fact that Al Qaeda was not in Iraq prior to 9-11 he responded “yeah, so what.” SO WHAT?? Mr. President that was the whole basis of your invasion? This man has got to go. Check it out for yourself.

McCain unwilling to commit to Palin in 2012

I was a little surprised simply because Senator McCain selected Palin as VP. The belief was that he believed she was the person mopst qualified to be President if he couldn’t serve. I guess it was, as we all suspected, political posturing. By the way it appears the Maverick is back!
