This is so typical of our people. Why is she now wanting to run against Obama. There is absolutely no way nor chance that this woman can or will win and she knows it. All she will be able to do is pull votes from Obama which could possibly cause him to lose. Additionally, she will go down in history as the stumbling block which stood in the way of the first viable Black candidate obtaining the Commander-in-Chief position.Consequently, we get McShame. Four more years of Bush failed politics and “100″ years more in Iraq, Iran, and Afghanistan. I believe it is either one of two reasons possibly both…she was paid by someone or her ego just became grandiose. It is so sad that we as a people can and will not galvanize behind one another. It’s strategized, practiced often, in place, and working well. The world sees it and uses it against us. Initially, I held her in high regard but because of this recent action, I have no regard for her. In fact all of his Black opposition seems to emanate from those who were never able to reach his level as a candidate, resent the fact that he has achieved more than they ever were able, simply put can not bear to see another one of us accomplish the highest position in the nation, and resent the fact that he is half White. You have Tavis Smiley, Cornell West, Jesse Jackson, Chas. Rangel, Al Sharpton, Eric Dyson, etc., and now Cynthia McKinney, who are all cut from the same cloth of resentment and jealousy. Grown men!! Glad to know that both are Obama supporters. You are indeed entitled to your opinion and I do respect it. Given your perspective which many are now declaring, I find this rationale equally as appalling. One would seize the opportunity firstly,to continue/obtain financial gain, and secondly, to have a voice. Unconscionable to say the least. Never wrote that I “heard” Sharpton go against Obama. However, early on again, in Obama’s run, Sharpton, Tavis (particularly), Jackson and West continued to drive home the point that Obama never says what he plans to do to help the Black community. Anyone understanding the history of Blacks in America would know that if Obama would take those kinds of actions or make statements to help Blacks he would never have accomplished as much as he has. There are those who just can not shut their mouths and allow this man’s strategy to play out. He knows exactly what he is doing and I trust him far more than any other candidate. He has already demonstrated what he would do for us in Southside Chicago. Opps. Erratum!! I finally heard the broadcast you had with Cynthia Mckinney on Tuesday July 15th, 2008. Base on the information that Cynthia Mckinney presented concerning the democrats and what the Green party stands for in relation to our needs as African Americans,I can understand why she is running for president. Does she has a chance to win? The answer is no. Will she possibly take votes from Senator Barack Obama? The answer is yes. However, is it imperative to elect an African American for president if he does not address our needs? If the majority of white america vote for Barack Obama for president, Does it really mean that race relations in this country has changed? The answer is no. Here are the reasons: 1. To accomodate the majority of white folks in this country, he had to disown his pastor who was his mentor for 20 yrs, married him and told the truth about how white America has colonized, tortured and implemented policies designed to impede African Americans progress in this country. 2. Even when he is telling the truth, he must watch his words carefully so it would not offend white citizens in this country. Remember the comment he made about folks and their guns and clinging on to religion which seems to be more important than losing their jobs. Also, 3. He had to wear an American flag on his lapel because most of white America had a problem with him not wearing one. And 4. He had to apologize to the press because General Wesley Clark made a statement about Senator McCain’s service in the military which was the truth. IF Senator Barack Obama has to watch his words carefully concerning standing up for the rights of African Americans, and poor people in this country to accomodate the majority of white citizens in America, then race relations in this country has not change. Race relations in this country will only improve when majority of white Americans can accept the error of their ways concerning the oppression of people of color in this nation and internationally. Also, elect an African American for president who will stand up for racial injustice, poverty and the economy of this nation. When that day comes, then it will truly be a change in America. But it will not be a change for the better in America if a African American candidate for president can not be honest about the racial and economic injustices placed on his people and the poor people of this nation. Rasil,
Thanks for your informative response. I too respect your entitled opinion on these issues. However, although I know it appears that Rev Al Sharpton is an opportunist; for me,I tend to disagree with those subjective and polemic viewpoints coming from critics of his. Now, if and when racism stops existing as a social phenomena, than I would question the pep rallies, demonstrations, boycotts, radio activism, etc. These type of social vanguard survices, protest activities, and others, are the necessary organizational functions/tools which any group of people need to keep in place which have been the victims of 400 years of social, economic, and political injustices. So, I personally, don’t mind him getting paid! Also, guess what? the white race has been getting paid under the skillful rubric of capitalism (I know ‘Race’ is a social construct).
Furthermore, much of your post suffers from a lack of specificity, bordering on just allegations and unsubstantial genralizations(lack of evidense). For example, when and where did you hear Dr.West challenge Obama about speakng to Black issues? Given these blind reactionary accusations, I find them, equally appalling and distasteful. However, you make an excellent point about peoples inability or unwillingness to let him play out his action plan. But, than, you skillfully vacillate back and forth from being his defender and social critic. It would be useful if you stated who you plan on supporting for president?
Moreover, Cynthia Mckinney, is our modern day Ida B. Wells Barnett. She is difiantly fighting and speaking truth to power by any means necessary. So I applaud her self-determined, undaunting tenacity as a Black woman in this racist and sexist country. So, your comments towards her, in my opinion, were doltishly insidious. I do, however, appreciate this critical colloquy on these important issues.
In all, I try and not pay too much attention, though its hard, to the subjective, caustic, and acrimonious critics of Obama. However, I do always appreciate an educational dialectical interaction.
Good converations…

I wonder how many listeners knew of Ms. McKinney prior to her nomination for the Green Party. Fyi, she has been workikng with them since the beginning of the primary season, the party only just now announced their nominee. You will never see Barack Obama tear down Donald Rumsfeld in front of any committee demanding to know where the $3 trillion dollars he lost has gone. Will he ever question anyone as to what happens when Halliburton flies out tens of thousands of women and children to be sold as slaves? Will he ever confront any of the criminals as to what really happened on 9-11? No he will perpetuate the lie that the Boogie Man (AL CIA-duh) is hiding in every nook and cranny so now we must move our troops back to Afghanistan. He says we will unilaterally bomb Pakistan if they don’t cooperate. He wants us to go after the “Islamio-fascist terrorists” though he won’t use the term. He He insinuates that our current Sec. of Defense Robert Gates would be kept on under his admin. What part of change don’t I understand? When you vote for the lesser of two evils, it is still evil. I applaud what Mrs. Mckinney is doing as a symbolic gesture, but I’m quite with the electoral college in full force this November - what she is doing will have little effect on the results of the campaign.
I was once a strong Barack supporter, until I researched 2 very important items:
1) Who are his Top Advisors? and
2) Who are his major financial backers?
You will be shocked at both these answers. Dont fall for the ‘Rock Star’ before you do some research. I once brought a pair of fake Air Jordans’ sneakers because they looked like the real thing - they didnt hold up once I got on the court. Take care.

Good morning Billy, I’m used to saying Billy, do you prefer Bill? (smile):
Anyway…having Cynthia McKinney on your show recently was somewhat a waist of time, I feel. She knows what she’s doing, and running against Senator Obama, at this time, is wrong. She obviously, has been seeking her opportunity for gaining extra attention, at whatever the costs. Poor thing!!!!!
Rasil,
Thanks for your informative response.
Cynthia McKinney has done her part for the country far longer and with greater courage than Barack ever will. You are being lied to and you want to believe for the color of his skin. I hope more babies dying in Afghanistan can help the blind sleep better at night.
Click and Clack (As the Wrench Turns) did an excellent parody on campaigns. The Green Party knows that Ms McKinney will not win but they will receive funds from the government for running a candidate. It is a win win situation for the Green Party and their candidate. Click and Clack is aired on PBS on Wednesday nights.
Your program promo containing the green party candidate Ms McKenney I feel should be pulled. I see it as an unpaid commercial, giving a point of view which you admit you don’t agree with. The less I hear of her bid, the better.
She sounds like a space cadet. I might as well run too. Wow, I have no real solutions either. Power to only the selected people of the good o’l US of A. I would’nt follow to water much less drink anything she was offering if I was dying of thirst.
Jerry,’space cadet’: where are you getting your resource information from about her? Cynthia Mckinney, while I disagree with her running, she would always warrant my deepest respct, love and admiration! Again, I understand opinions, but where is your information supporting her being a ’space cadet?.’
Take care.
Hey Bill
Great interview, bad timing for this green party candidate to enter the race.
We only wish Cynthia McKinney a good future career.
Mrs. Mckinney has a good heart but has come up against a big machine and she is not of the same bloodline like all (43) of the past Presidents including Senator Obama.
