What features would make the Wake Up with Bill website better for you?

Hi Bill,
I do wake uup with you and the early morning team every morning. I am usually getting ready for work and cannot always get through, BECAUSE THE LINES ARE BUSY. Is it possible to text or e-mail questions for the guests and be able to get our questions addressed? That would help, because once I get to work I can listen via computer.

I would like to be able to go back and hear shows that I have missed, not necessarily download it.
I listen to you at work, so I can’t watch online and use my computer too.
It would also be nice to peruse “Wake Up With Bill” and listen to the show from the same site. I can open up WURD and listen to the show, but if I click to Listen to Bill on WURD, it shuts down the “Wake Up With Bill” site.
However, I am enjoying both.

Please seriously consider bill boarding, archiving. and providing downloading capability for past shows, particularly and especially; In Pursuit of Truth with Reggie Bryant. Reggie is a master of the interview and his political world view resonates strongly with me. Hey Bill, you are also one of the legends in “Black” talk radio. Al Butler is all that too.
Bill, you’re doing an excellent job with this website thus far. Is there a way you can provide us with a chatroom specifically for listerners and guests to have follow up conversations. For example, someplace where Sonia Sanchez, Dr. Fred Burton, Dr.Eddie Glaude, Dr.Naim Akbar, etc., can finish interacting with us. Many times I am left wanting a followup question but have no way of contacting these guests. Also, such a system can also maintain their confidentiality. Do you know what I mean?
I can send my questions via email. Also, ‘billboarding’ your program will be excellent for those people who get trapped in not calling back to back days because of your policy. Today, I was stuck because I forgot that Dr.Burton was scheduled; or I wouldn’t have called yesterday.

Thank you everyone for your comments and keep em coming. I am working really hard along with my web designers to make sure all of your requests are addressed. By now I am sure that you have seen the live stream of our weekday shows, it is our hope that the quality will be improved next week. Some of your requests:
1) We are in the process of uploading many past shows, sound clips and themes. There are some licensing issues but we are working around them.
2) I am already speaking with Dr. Burton and a few others about doing a 30 minute or hour “after show” online so that you amy expand upon your questions. They will most likely be in the evening and may require a small payment to pay for the stream and video capability.
3) The message board will be up shortly, no profanity please
4) We are implementing the live chat capability to go with the streaming audio/video. very soon you will be able to instant message your question and it will appear on the stream screen for us and all to see. We will answer as many as we can.
Your suggestions are greatly appreciated and I/we will do our best to address them all. Thanks for supporting wakeupwithbill.com and make sure you check out 900amwurd.com as well.

I dont know…I think the “specialty shows”, like Financial Voices, the car show, and the health show, should be saved for the WEEKENDS, and weekdays should always be an open forum to discuss ANY topic.
Say that you’re tuning in to the show, and the topic isn’t one that you’re interested in. If the listener knows that topic is going to be discussed for the next 3 HOURS…they’re probably going to tune out and try the next day.
The open topics show are A LOT more interesting because of the current events discussed. Specialty show are always save for the weekends on other channels.

Perhaps WURD can downsize some of the religious programming for one ‘radio courtroom’ like show and a book related show where the community can not only access and or learn about written books but books online, ebooks, video books, etc. For the Radio courtroom show, alternating attorneys & show themes;RHW/contract law, Tarik/Connecting Religion & Law, Mike/Grassroots Legal Issues & Charmaine/women & legal rights, something like that…
How about a ‘Today in Black Radio Ourstory’ scroll, it could be audio or visual. I’d be honored to locate the info for a daily scroll of Black people, events, etc. related to radio/the media to make sure that there’s something posted daily. It is great being part of a growing radio station. Keep up the good work! I was wondering, have you guys every considered also having a video feed to show I-95 and Colum??? oops I mean Delaware Avenue. The different hosts often talk about the view they have outside of the studio overlooking I-95 and so forth. Maybe every now and then you could share a video feed depicting what you guys see.
Many of us have the volume up to hear every wurd. Can you turn the music down a bit, it’s not that important to what’s being said.

I listen to your show every day and am proud of your progress over the years. My suggestion is that if the Clinton’s cause Obama to loose the election because of the divisiveness that they are causing, we as Blacks need to unite and make sure their political career is over - in New York and otherwise. This election is too important for the stuff they are pulling or allowing to be done with their approval.
Hi Bill, thought of some more suggestions. 1. How about community pictures being posted on the site-you know , people walking down the street, eating water ice, jumping under the sprinklers, couples strolling and holding hands whatever. You know , scenes from daily Blk Life. 2. I just noticed today that when on your blog page (or this one too) that there is no sound from the studio. The streaming is sounding better so i don’t need my radio to listen but if I leave that page I can’t hear anything until I go back. I am hearing you from Germantown by the way.

Moreover, I would like to suggest that you do a series on inviting Philadelphian musicans like: Ruth Naiomi Floyd, a maverick christain jazz artist. Perhaps, inviting young and older musicans would enable your WURD listeners to gain a broader scope of the unique talent reigning in historic Philadelphia. Sorry to keep poppin’ into the suggestion box Dollardollarbill, but i keep thinking of things. Today I heard a name on your show and it reminded me of many things-mainly that i do not want to hear her voice again if at all possible-Renee Amore.Aren’t there other female voices out there that can stop in on a regular basis to give a strictly political, non-biased point of view ? What about Fatimah Ali? She’s not the only one either. I can’t take Renee. I always turn you off when i hear that she is on. Sorry.
This morning Bill, I did agree with your assessment of Michelle Obama’s speech of August 25, 2008, yesterday. I understood that what you were saying was that it did not have the affect of an extraordinary speech and that it didn’t need to; it was sufficient and that she did her candidate a service by making said speech.
I’m afraid however that as some people lament, we can be overly emotional. I admire that woman for presenting herself as strong as she does because it serves us all and, for following a calling to give that brother support to push him through.

I listen to WURD off and on all day (RETIRED). Please note that today,
when I was listening to Bro Reggie, the station kept going on and off a number of times. In fact,the noted problem has emerged almost daily.
Hopefully, the problem can be corrected. We (my family) really likes your show; as well as, the other shows. Keep up the good work!
I just think in certain areas of the city, the reception just isn’t that great. When I’m listening Bills show, I’m at work in Center City/South Philly, so there isn’t any problems. Later on, when I’m at home in the far northeast, the station always “shuts off” at around 8pm sharp :). I remember having the same problem with the old WHAT station.
Anyway, I have a way to get around the specialty show issue. Like say Financial Voices. Still have the financial guest on Thursday, but its no longer the Financial Voice show. Its an open forum show with a financial guest. The callers talk about whatever they want, but at the very end before you cut them off, ask them if they have a financial question for the guest. That way, its still an open forum, and the financial talk isn’t dominating the show. Its not that finances, health, and cars isn’t something we need to know and talk about! But the callers can bring up anything from police brutality to gangsta rap, and they’re quite frankly WAY more interesting to listen to while you’re working :D!
If you could sit back and see the contrast between the beginning of the week, and Thursday! Its like a fast car. Monday-Wednesday seems like the show is going from zero to sixty! Activists are calling in, the normal “hate whitey” people :)…Then Thurday hits…and the car goes from sixty to ZERO :D! The financial show is great…but its not particularily INTERESTING! Especially compared to the first three days of the weak, which is an open forum battleground! I dont know how else to put it! People can can go to a seminar :)! But that kind of thing on radio is like a cure for insomnia! The health show seems like its geared towards an older crowd. Its once a month, so its really no big deal, but that show can also gring the week down to a hault.
Friday isn’t TOTALLY boring…the lawyer is pretty cool. Seems like she gets it. She could get into some law journals and put everyone to sleep, but she doesn’t. She keeps it light. Its just the CAR part :)…I think there’s obviously a commercial ($$$) motive for it :). But it isn’t INTERESTING! People can always go to the neighborhood dealership and have a salesman do his thing! I dont think you realize how much more interesting it is to just let the callers do their thing, monday thru Friday!
Aw…I’m KICKING myself! I should have had all this figured out before I opened my mouth :)! Thera reminded me today that the OWNER of the station is a DOCTOR! That explains EVERYTHING! I’m like, the callers and activists are what make the show INTERESTING, why would he not do that 5 days a wee…but this explains it all! The once-a-month doctor show on Wednesday…financial analysts about as exciting as watching paint dry on Thursdays, and a car salesman on Friday, a cure for insomnia :)! These are all things a DOCTOR would find exciting :D!! LMAO! I should have saw that, then I would get the translation:
Translation #1: “it ain’t changin’”
Translation #2: “buy your own radio station”
Its cool :)…I kinda know to switch to 610 WIP Thursday and Friday (during the car push), and Wednesday once a month.

Congratulations on your indepth and wonderful coverage of the CBC. You, Rhonda, Thera, Al, Steve, et al did a fantastic & professional job. It was almost like being there on the scene.
Thanks for keeping the chat going. I only recently started chatting w/WURD, I’m hooked and I love it! The WURD family of hosts, pro-ducers, callers & chatters are really special people.
My/Our (some other chatters) suggestion (we know you’re not the GM/Program Director so pass this on to them) is to give Troy some spots to do sports/Black talk radio history to share his experiences with Georgie Woods and Johnny Sample.
I know Rob and Sultan have the Thursday eve sports show and I’m not suggesting getting rid of their show, it’s great. Love the way they mix it up with sports, politics. Just think Troy would bring a different prospective with his history, particulariy with Johnny.
Keep up the great work! Can’t wait to see what WURD comes up with next!

As a political dissenter to the Democratic stronghold on the black vote, I appreciate you having Renee Amoore as a bi-weekly co-host and again, the chatroom where I can express my dissent and dialogue with others.

I mail you a e-mail once before, concerning the idea of montoring the progress of the elected officals and reporting it back to the community. I think you have the right concept, but it must be a continues process this is where we fall as a people, We don’t complete anything we start, I coin us five minute people. We speak very well and bring out all the concerns until it is time to go to work.
The issue about the elected officals is that they need to be showen and proved to that they work for us not the other way around.
The issue with Mr. Goode, It’s not his office it belong to the people.
I’m not trying to be more then who I am. I’m just someone who wants to really see us as a people advance to a level that we can help make this world be as GOD wants it to be while we are here.
Mr. Anderson if you can get your idea off and running, please let me know, I really believe if we stick to that there will be a big change in the community, and what you have in mind I say it can work.

Out of all the hosts, Al B seems to be the most tolerant of europeans :). The occassional jab, but for the most part, he’s safe. I get the feeling Bill is tolerant, but to a POINT :)…if he has a guest on like Shabazz, the rating can go up to NC-17 :). Same with Thera. Safe, unless certain guests come on.
I cannot, under any circumstances, allow Reggie Bryant and the Reverend Wright to be heard around my white co-workers :D! So I turn the volumn down. And what Bryant says is TRUE! See, the one major flaw of our people is the inability to control our EMOTIONS! The gas pedal is always FLOORED when it comes to emotion and rage! Its why we’re so voilent! I can react one of two ways when I hear Bryant talk about “europeans”. The typical knee-jerk emotional response…OR, I can ease my foot off that emotional gas pedal a little, sit back…and, no matter WHAT I think about improving race relations, or the whites I personally KNOW…putting all emotion aside, relax, and what Reggie Bryant is saying…IS TRUE…I may not be comfortable with how UGLY it came out, but all emotion aside and deep down in my conscience, its the absolute TRUTH. Its just that its not a good idea to have the volume up on Reggie’s show in a diverse workplace :)! They’re good white people, one even dates sistas! I dont want them hearing that kind of stuff :)! Then they may think I’m “angry”!.
But thankfully Reggie has a laid back, relaxed style that helps me out whenever forget to turn the volume at work when his show comes on. One day it was about 12:59 in the afternoon, and I thought to myself, one more hour before I get out of…HOLY CRAP, I FORGOT TO TURN THE VOLUME DOWN ON REGGIE :D!!
